10 Facts About Bruce Lee


1. In the family, Bruce was given a female name: “Small wonder”
Parents did not call him Bruce. They preferred to call him Sai Fon – a small miracle. A feminine name, which the parents have chosen deliberately in the belief that evil spirits do not like when there are boys in the family (their firstborn – a boy, died in infancy). Therefore, they believed that if you give Bruce a feminine name, you will be able to deceive the demons and save his life.
In fact, the name Bruce gave him a nurse at the Jackson Street Hospital in San Francisco, where he was born (at the time of Bruce’s father was traveling in the troupe). The nurse thought that if you give your child an English name, it will help avoid difficulties in obtaining U.S. birth certificate (with Bruce was born an American, and never had any other nationality).

2. Bruce Lee was partly German
Bruce was not pure-blooded Chinese: it flowed and German blood (his grandfather through the mother was half German).

3. Bruce Lee never lost a battle
In fact, he lost the battle only once in his life: when he was 13 years old. It was this defeat and led him to study martial arts with Master Wing Chun on behalf of Yip Man. After other students learned that Bruce was not pure-blooded Chinese, they demanded that he stopped training with them.

4. Bruce Lee poorly studied
Bruce was not interested in education. After graduating from elementary school, Bruce entered the College of La Salle College – Secondary school for English boys in Kowloon, Hong Kong. At school he constantly gets into any trouble and was expelled for bad behavior.
Even after his parents moved to another school, Bruce continued to engage in street fights.

5. Bruce Lee’s beautifully danced and boxed
Bruce studied dance as hard as a martial art: he danced beautifully, and in 1958 at age 18 won the championship of the Hong Kong Cha-Cha-Cha! Bruce is also great boxing: in the same year he won the championship in boxing – of course, a knockout!

6. Bruce Lee studied philosophy
Bruce was not brainless sack of muscles. He attended the University of Washington, where he studied philosophy, namely: the philosophical principles of martial arts. As you might guess, in college, Bruce worked part time because he taught martial arts. He later dropped out and opened his own martial arts school.

7. Would you like to fight Bruce Lee? Knock on his foot on the ground!
After Bruce was famous, and many thought they could beat him – they approached him, tapped a foot on the ground (symbolizing the call), and rushed into the attack! Well … maybe not so literally, but the popularity of Bruce’s definitely attracted to different psycho who tried to prove that they are better.
Once, during the filming of “Island of the Dragon”, a statistician began to scoff at the Bruce and challenged him to fight. Everything was as follows: “The guy was good. Not just a street hooligan. He was strong and fast moving, trying to knock Bruce brains. But Bruce was methodically dismantled into parts.”
“Bruce was moving so well that the guy could not even touch him … Suddenly Bruce grabbed him by typing hips into the wall and came down on him barrage: a knee to the chest and a direct hand in his face, like a hammer.”
Bruce is not dismissed statistician – what was in his nature. He taught him a lesson and showed what needed to be improved!

8. Bruce Lee was a strong
In 1964, Bruce was invited to a karate championship in Long Beach, California. There he demonstrated his famous “blow Inch” – a stunning strike force which is applied from a distance of inches, and throws the opponent back!
Bob Baker from Stockholm, which struck Bruce, said: “I said to Bruce not to do. When he hit me, I had to stay home and not go to work because of chest pain was unbearable.”

9. Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris, who wins?
That scene is a fight Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in “Return of the Dragon.” Look how quickly moves Bruce. Although it is obvious that Inch blow had no effect would be on Chuck because of vegetation inch on his chest, which can easily soften a blow!

Bruce died suddenly during the filming of “Game of Death”. And what does the studio? All that is inserted into the movie!
