Unpublished

I've just been looking through my blog and saw this had remained unpublished... reading back over it I realise just how true it was at the time... (and still is to a certain extent!)

As I pressed the shot glass to my lips I braced myself for the potent spirit that was imminent to pass through them. As the liquid trickled down my throat I felt the warm after burn following its journey into down into my stomach. Looking up at the stars beaming down on me in the night sky I lit a cigarette and inhaled.

I could hear the bustling of traffic from the roads nearby accompanied by the base being carried through the air from the music that was playing inside.

I had already had more than enough to drink, yet I had no desire to stop just yet...

It has been some time since a weekend has passed without me ending up completely wrecked. These past few months I have revisited my youth and become a reborn party animal, whats more, I like it.

Although my excessive partying my be taking a toll on not only my bank balance but also my liver, I am just too contempt to call it a day and 'grow up.' Partying with my friends is something that makes the working week worthwhile, and as soon as Sunday rolls around I am already thinking ahead to the next weekend.

One of the things that makes my partying so enjoyable is the people I do so with. Every weekend provides us with a new weekend anthem and a whole new load of things to laugh at.

Working all the time
Work is such a bind
Got some money to spend
Living for the weekend
When it gets too much
I live for the rush
Got some money to spend
Living for the weekend

A friend in need...

Everyone has a friend that they turn to in their moment of need for support and advice. For many, that person seems to be me...

I don't know exactly what it is that I do that helps these people with their problems, whether it is my outstanding ability to listen or wise words that I speak, but what I do know is I'd quite happily help my friends out with their problems for as long as required.

Personally, I think it is incredibly important that everyone has a friend that they can speak to about anything, without fear of being judged or sounding like a fool. When you have someone who you feel comfortable talking to about absolutely anything then that is the moment you realise you have found something truly special - a real friend.

After all, a friend in need, is a friend indeed.

Sisters by chance, Friends by choice.

When I was growing up, me and my sister would spend most of our time together arguing or teasing one another. But as time passes it seems that my sister and I get a little bit closer every day...

Having recently spent an amazing weekend with my skin and blister, I have started to reflect on just how lucky I am to have her in my life. Not only is she a part of my family but she is also one of my closest friends. Sam is the person that listens to my problems and offers advice, she shares her dilemmas with me and is undoubtedly just as crazy as I am.

Of course, looking back to our younger years together would present a completely different image to what we see now. There was fighting, bickering and endless tricks played on both our parts. (Need i mention the hot mouth sweet revenge with the exploding fag?)

Being the younger sister I would always look up to Sam, I'd want to join in when her friends came over and just be a part of her day to day life. Of course now I can understand what a complete pain in the ass that must have been. With a seven year age gap between us there is not much possibility of having that close a friendship when one of you is 16 and the other is 9...

I hear stories about people who have drifted apart from their siblings, or fallen out after some sort of family row and have never made up since. The thought of having this with my own seems somewhat impossible. Sure, we may have arguments now and then, perhaps not speak for a few days, but I could never imagine her cutting me out of her life completely or living without her in mine.

My sister is someone to share secrets with and relive memories of our youth together. She is that person that shows an interest in anything I choose to do.  She is my drinking partner, my shopping buddy, the fellow fake baker and my food consuming companion, but whatever I call her, she will forever be not just a sister, but also my best friend.

You've Got A Friend...

Lately I have been in a reflective state of mind, thinking deeply about my life and those who are a part of it, and I realise just how special these people are...

Sometimes it's easy to take a friend for granted, you don't quite comprehend just how special they are and how much they mean to you. But at some point everyone recognises the fact that friends are the people that are always there for you, no matter what.

There are a whole selection of different types of friends that you make during a lifetime. Some friendships fade, while others grow, but a true friend is with you for life.
  • Childhood friendships make the bond for life. It's these friends that you will always have, even if you lose  contact, once you reunite it is as if you were never apart.
  • There's Uni friends, they say that these are the ones who will stick with you for life, and after making some lovely friends at mine, I hope this saying stands true.
  • Sensible friends, these are the people that can offer you sound advice and reassurance, talk through your problems and make you see sense.
  • Then there's the crazy friends, who drink through the problems and make you see the fun side of life when you can only see the sad.
  • The working friends who start off as colleagues but soon become people who you are happy to socialise with outside of working hours too.
  • The male friends who can give some great insight into the minds of men and don't expect any extra 'benefits'.
  • Finally, there's the boyfriend, although these friends may come and go, when you find the right one you find a whole new type of friendship you never knew existed.
So, make sure you tell your buddies just how much you value them, after all, where would we be without our friends?
