Bridesmaids

Last night I went and watched Bridesmaids... for all those who may not be familiar, Bridesmaids is a comical chick flick released here in the UK last week...

Following the life of main character and maid of honour Annie (Kristen Wiig) we are taken through her whirlwind journey coping with life as a singleton, competing with new 'best friend' of the bride Helen (Rose Byrne) and meeting the man who turns life back around.

Bridesmaids really does have everything you would expect from a girlie film; a selection of differently minded girls, a wedding, a FB, the perfect guy, puppies, booze, tears, love and plenty of laughs. I honestly cannot remember the last time I watched a chick-flick that delivered on so many levels.

It made me think alot about my own life, how it feels to be single, how it feels to be used, and how it feels to be loved. I think that many girls will have gone through that Annie has and feel a certain degree of connection to her character. All in all it relates to the audience and holds your attention from start to finish.
Most chick-flick movies tend to lack in some areas and have funny moments which aren't actually that funny, yet Bridesmaids is able to offer the viewer 125 minutes of pure comedy genius as well as tap into feelings and emotions that not only makes you laugh but also has the capability to make you cry.

Some particular highlights are the plane journey to Vegas, the various 'law-breaches' using a car and that Bridal shower.

Final thought: Thinking about seeing this film? It's worth saying 'I do.'

Unpublished

I've just been looking through my blog and saw this had remained unpublished... reading back over it I realise just how true it was at the time... (and still is to a certain extent!)

As I pressed the shot glass to my lips I braced myself for the potent spirit that was imminent to pass through them. As the liquid trickled down my throat I felt the warm after burn following its journey into down into my stomach. Looking up at the stars beaming down on me in the night sky I lit a cigarette and inhaled.

I could hear the bustling of traffic from the roads nearby accompanied by the base being carried through the air from the music that was playing inside.

I had already had more than enough to drink, yet I had no desire to stop just yet...

It has been some time since a weekend has passed without me ending up completely wrecked. These past few months I have revisited my youth and become a reborn party animal, whats more, I like it.

Although my excessive partying my be taking a toll on not only my bank balance but also my liver, I am just too contempt to call it a day and 'grow up.' Partying with my friends is something that makes the working week worthwhile, and as soon as Sunday rolls around I am already thinking ahead to the next weekend.

One of the things that makes my partying so enjoyable is the people I do so with. Every weekend provides us with a new weekend anthem and a whole new load of things to laugh at.

Working all the time
Work is such a bind
Got some money to spend
Living for the weekend
When it gets too much
I live for the rush
Got some money to spend
Living for the weekend

A friend in need...

Everyone has a friend that they turn to in their moment of need for support and advice. For many, that person seems to be me...

I don't know exactly what it is that I do that helps these people with their problems, whether it is my outstanding ability to listen or wise words that I speak, but what I do know is I'd quite happily help my friends out with their problems for as long as required.

Personally, I think it is incredibly important that everyone has a friend that they can speak to about anything, without fear of being judged or sounding like a fool. When you have someone who you feel comfortable talking to about absolutely anything then that is the moment you realise you have found something truly special - a real friend.

After all, a friend in need, is a friend indeed.

Quotes that make me smile...

People only rain on your parade, because they're
jealous of your sun and tired of their shade.

L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N

The last six months have brought with them some changes to my life. I split up with my boyfriend of six years, moved in with one of my boy-mates and was fortunate enough to make some lovely new friends along the way.

During this time I have surrounded myself with the familiar faces of people I love. Sure, I may have been out partying a little more than I should do, but I don't regret the millions of Jägerbombs and litres of wine that I poured down my gullet. Without those moments of madness I wouldn't be the person I am today, not that I have changed as a person, but mentally, (despite the few thousand braincells lost through drinking) I feel a certain degree of acceptance. I know that as easy as it is to stay in a moment of sadness and pain, I need to get back on the horse and live my life.

Don't get me wrong, it is difficult and of course there are days when I sit and think to myself about all the crap that has happened, and it is in these moments that it becomes so easy to sink into that dark dreary land of depression and lose all sight of the positives in life. Luckily for me, I have some brilliant mates who have that ability to pick me up out of that hole and place me firmly back into reality.

The past is a past for a reason, everyone at some point will go through difficult times and face obstacles that they dreaded the most, but for every moment that passes, there is a future, a chance to make things right, an opportunity to live life with no regrets.

So, the next time you are in that difficult place, feeling lost and as if all hope has vanished, put the past behind you, focus on the future and what life has yet to bring.

After all, Life goes on.
