Android Mascot Poses as Hero & Villain

Toy artist Andrew Bell is releasing a new line of Android robot collectibles, racking up more pop culture cred for the tiny green mascot.

Bell plans to release his Summer 2011 mini-Android collection on August 1 through his Dyzplastic toy company. The four-figure special edition collection features the Google mascot rendered as two heroes and two villains.

"The Hidden Task" is a master of disguise, waiting in the shadows to do good, while "El Podoroso" is a powerful wrestler patterned after Mexican luchadores. They go up against "Greentooth," a master of mind control, and his partner in crime, "Cycle-On," a power-mad robot who will stop at nothing for world domination.

The box set retails for $40 on Dyzplastic's website, and individual figures may go for $10 each.
Dyzplastic has made its name with clever, colorful renditions of the Google mascot, jazzing up the robot with seasonal, limited-edition designs. Previous designs include the robot rendered as a racecar, a vampire, and a cupcake. Special holiday and seasonal Android toy designs include a snowman model from last year, as well as the Chinese god of wealth, Cai Shen, for Chinese New Year. http://www.mobiledia.com/news/81690.html

Bell is also expanding into custom designs, including hand-painting Android toys as wedding cake toppers for tech-inclined couples.

Dyzplastic's Android figurines sell out quickly and are endorsed by Google, a testament to their creative design as well as the affection the robot enjoys as a fixture in viral videos and promotional stunts.
